FAQS

WHAT KINDS OF ISSUES CAN I WORK ON IN THERAPY?

WHAT DOES "HOLISTIC THERAPY" MEAN?

To me, holistic means viewing the whole person in their environmental context and getting to the roots rather than just treating surface level symptoms. I work from an approach that views the mind and body as one interconnected whole, that sees us as being part of an interconnected social world rather than isolated individuals. To understand our challenges we have to look at the whole picture and all the interconnections within ourselves and between ourselves and others.

DO YOU HAVE AN IDEAL CLIENT?

I work with all walks of life and a wide range of issues, however I find therapy is more effective and rewarding when people come to therapy with an openness to delve deep and excavate their innermost workings. This requires a level of vulnerability, which I do not expect people to be comfortable with right away but will be important to work towards.

While this is not an exhaustive list, these are some of the topics I have found rewarding to work on with people:

- Difficult emotions and painful experiences

- Processing childhood events and attachment wounds

- Developing greater self awareness

- Trauma

- Shame and feelings of "not good enough"

- "Imposter syndrome"

- Perfectionism

- Difficulty with boundaries

- Catastrophizing and rumination

- Anxiety and depression

- Interpersonal and relationship challenges

- Life transitions

- Life dissatisfaction

- Finding meaning and purpose

- Developing self-compassion

- Struggling emotionally with the state of the world, injustice, and ecological crisis
